Autumn Term 2023
In Year 5 this term we have the joy of reading and immersing ourselves in the classic text 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. We aim to instantly capture the children's imaginations, enabling them to immerse themselves into a text full of risk taking, problem solving and perseverance.
Our first class trip will be to the Planetarium in Chichester to open the children’s eyes to our amazing Solar System.
In other areas of our curriculum we will be studying the history of Ancient Greece, with particular focus on values, daily life and what people there believed in and how they showed this through their actions and rituals.
In RE we will be enquiring in to the Islamic faith, using the five pillars to understand what is sacred to the Muslim community.
In PE the children will be developing their skills and confidence in gymnastics as well as team game, giving them the opportunity to develop their passing, defending and attacking skills.
Our music specialist, Mr Servant, will be focusing on the class' music composition, and Madame Stacey will further develop the children's French vocabulary with her expert knowledge of another beautiful language and its culture.
We have no doubt that the children will continue to make connections between their new and previous learning, creating a memorable experience for every child.
More information on this term's topic can be found in our curriculum booklet.
