Arundel CofE Primary School

RHE Implementation continued

Our whole school approach to the teaching and learning of RHE involves the following;

RHE is taught discretely (except in EYFS where it is interwoven into ‘Personal Development’).  In this way, we can ensure that there is a clear progression of both knowledge and skills (our building blocks) from EYFS to Year 6. RHE compliments our Safeguarding procedures at ACE, in line with West Sussex’s Education for Safeguarding (E4S).

We use the programme ‘Jigsaw’. Jigsaw is a carefully thought-through progressive programme with a full set of attainment descriptors and an assessment process embedded throughout.

Why Jigsaw RHE?

Designed as a whole-school approach, Jigsaw establishes consistency that gives all teachers confidence to deliver high-quality lessons at ACE. Jigsaw meet all statutory RHE requirements, but it also elevates educational outcomes together with mental health and safeguarding, which are key features of life at ACE.

Jigsaw nurtures children to be confident and successful, increasing their capacity to learn and preparing them for the challenges of the modern world. Developed by teachers and well-being experts, Jigsaw provides children with opportunities to develop their emotional intelligence and life skills.
